Two men wait for a liver donor. It is human nature that hope happens, and it takes many shapes. But must we face the consequences of getting what we hope for?
"Waiting" is a short screenplay about two men waiting for a liver transplant and facing the consequences of getting what they hope for. It was written by Mary Catherine Wendt, submitted to the 2005 SideWrite screenwriting competition, and chosen to receive the Production Prize. The script is being turned into a short film by Sunspot Pictures, a local commercial production company, to be shown at the 2006 Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival, which takes place September 22nd through the 24th. |
Executive Producer Rick Pennington says that David Brower, a principal in the company, will lens the movie. Brower received a ACE Award for Outstanding Cinematography for his work on 'Who Killed Tangerine" shown at last year's Sidewalk festival.
David's friend Yuri Shapochka (Game Shop, High Expectaions) has been recruited to direct. "We felt that having Yuri's help to shoot a 12 to 15 minute film over two days would make the most efficient use of the all-volunteer crew and actors' time.", says Pennington. Tom Lawson, Danny Reid, and Barbara Kincaid-Hill play the main characters. |
